Katy Perry’s Mary Janes at the MTV VMA After Party

Everybody’s talking about Katy Perry’s outfits at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. With her pink hair and non-traditional red-carpet look – with several outfit changes – she didn’t fail to start, and keep, the media talking. Some loved the look, and some didn’t. Several entertainment sites are asking their readers to vote on whether Katy’s outfits are hot or not. We here at Love Mary Janes aren’t sure what to think about Katy’s look either, although we must admit that her new fashion style is definitely interesting. The Huffington Post referred to it as Asian Pop, so we’re going to call it Asian Pop, too, for lack of a better term.

What we found really interesting among Katy’s outfits that night was her ensemble for the House of Hype After Party. Here, let us show it to you rather than describe it:

If you’re staring at her blue Mary Janes, then you are, indeed, after our own heart. (We knew you would, anyway, as fellow Mary Jane lovers.) Is Katy’s outfit fashionable? Is it stylish? I love Katy Perry. I enjoy listening to her music, and I love her fashion sense. It’s bordering on outrageous, but she manages to pull it off without looking ridiculous. There is just something appealing about her colorful outfits, shoes, and hair accessories. Her style has a vintage feel to it. She reminds me of a 60′s pin-up girl. I would put her in the same category as Christina Aguilera – somewhat Old Hollywood.

Most often than not, Katy Perry pairs her signature look with a pair of Mary Janes. She wears these shoes in different colors, one to match each outfit, as clearly seen on the pictures below.
