Christian Louboutins for the Model of the Year

On November 17, Russian supermodel Irina Shayk received Marie Claire’s Prix de la Moda Awards‘ Model of the Year award. The event was held at the French embassy in Madrid, Spain, home of Real Madrid, the football team Irina’s gorgeous boryfriend, Cristiano Ronaldo, plays for.

Irina Shayk, whose real name is Irina Shaykhlislamova, has been appearing in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue since 2007. She’s the cover model of the 2011 issue. She also modeled for Armani Exchange in the spring and summer of 2010. It was through the Armani Exchange campaign that she met Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the highest-paid football players in the world.

At the Prix de la Moda awards, she was wearing an Elie Saab sequined gown and Christian Louboutin No. 299 150 pumps.

The Zeke Shoe: A Different Kind of Mary Jane

If you’re familiar with Jeffrey Campbell’s shoes, then you know that they definitely don’t look like your ordinary heels. They’re funky, unique, mostly colorful, and anything but boring. Now, aren’t you interested in what Jeffrey Campbell’s take on Mary Janes is? Well, we were, so we moseyed on over to Singer22 and checked out the Jeffrey Campbell collection. We found a few Mary Janes, but there was one in particular that more than caught our attention.

Jeffrey Campbell Zeke Shoe in Black, $209.95

We’re sure you see what makes the Zeke shoe not your typical Mary Jane. Well, aside from the fact that it’s a Jeffrey Campbell, that is.

It’s a wedge platform, but the conspicuous ankle cuff with its multi-strap, buckle detail almost makes it look like it could be a semi-bootie or a gladiator heel. That’s how it appears to our fashionista eyes, at least. And that one feature – the atypical ankle cuff – is enough to make this particular Mary Jane style stand out.

Mix and Match: Lolita Heels and Flirty Dresses

We found several new arrivals at Zappos and instantly fell in love with three Mary Jane heels by Ivanka Trump, Isola Cadria, and Steve Madden. We also found many pretty and very feminine dresses in the New Arrivals section, and we figured we should match our favorite finds with the three Mary Janes. The results are pairings that can be worn to a dinner, a party afterwards, and a nightcap to end what would hopefully be a romantic evening. Or if you don’t have a date, wear them to dinner with your girlfriends. But don’t waste the night – and your Lolita-heel-and-flirty-dress-ensemble – by heading home early. Instead, you and your girlfriends should go dancing and clubbing.

We’re going to start with our number one love: The Ivanka Trump Kyra2. It’s a color-blocked, stiletto pump with shades of pink, orange, and a little black. It’s a leather shoe, although the sole is made of synthetic material. The Lolita look is accomplished with an ankle strap with buckle closure.

The Kyra2 is very Ivanka Trump: bold, sophisticated, sassy, and saucy! We were not surprised at all to learn who the designer was.

One fashion trend that is fast becoming popular is color-blocking. This applies to clothes, accessories, shoes, and even hair. You have probably seen color-blocking in Mary Janes and other shoe styles. Since we like this fashion trend, we’ve decided to feature a few color-blocked Mary Janes on Love Mary Janes.

We turned to Saks Fifth Avenue and Jessica Simpson Collection for inspiration. They answered by giving us something from Ms. Simpson’s collection and a Christian Louboutin pump.

The Christian Louboutin Minimi is a peep-toe, platform pump that has blocks of reds, greens, browns, and blacks.
